Rho Psi Omega was chartered in 1989 to extend the impact of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, in the Charlotte community. Over the past 36 years, Rho Psi Omega’s membership has grown from 50 charter members to 500+ active, college-educated, committed community leaders.  We have mentored students in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. We have guided undergraduate members at Queens University and Johnson & Wales University and we have supported the next generation of leaders by awarding thousands of dollars in college scholarships. We have bridged the health, education, and economic gap of children, families, and minorities throughout Mecklenburg County and have done so with our signature brand of sisterhood and style!

Rho Psi Omega operates under the current umbrella of Alpha Kappa Alpha program initiatives and the theme “Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood.”  We invite you to join us in our mission to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards; to promote unity and friendship among college women; to study and help alleviate problems concerning women and girls to improve their social stature; to maintain a progressive interest in college life; and to serve all mankind.
